West Ham (nickname "The Hammers") was founded in 1895 as Thames Ironworks F.C. changing their name in 1900 to West Ham United Football Club. The club is based in West Ham, Newham, East London and have played at the Boleyn Ground stadium since 1904. The original shirt colour was dark blue, however the team used a variety of colours until 1899 when they adopted the now familiar home kit colours of claret shirts with sky blue sleeves and white shorts. Away colours tend to rotate between dark blue white and sky blue. The club contributed three players to the World Cup winning England side of 1966, Bobby Moore, Martin Peters and Geoff Hurst who between them scored all of England's goals in the 4-2 final.
